Why W Must Win

This stuff is sick.

The Last Paragraph

The Headline Screams:

Now It's Official: U.S. Growth Slowed

But read the last paragraph:

Investment in inventories as well as in equipment and software also received an upward boost, while consumer spending was bumped up to a 1.6 percent gain, well above the 1.0 percent rise seen last month.

Fiery Conservative

From a "fiery Democrat . . . to the strong Bush backer of today."

Miller's appearance with Bush seemed to complete a transformation from the fiery Democrat who addressed the Democratic National Convention in 1992 to the strong Bush backer of today.

Looking forward to Senator Miller's Keynote next week.

Who is lying? John Kerry or his Diary?

More nonsense from a nonsensical candidate.

Kerry AWOL from Ready Reserve?

This guy seemingly has no shame.

Bush Nuance?

A bit disappointed the Bush campaign is trying to be a bit too cute denouncing 527's ads (yes, including Swift Boat Veterans for Truth).

Would prefer a more vigorous denunciation and spotlight on the "Soros under the rock" MoveOn.org and other such groups who seem (too) conviently to elude the sight of the "mainstream" media.

Also would be good to hear Mr. President say that since he produced all his service records, Mr. Kerry could easily dispel all the controversy by simply releasing his records.

No disparagement implied by asking for the truth to set us all free. . . .

Where's the Blood?

Gonna be a rowdy week.

Stealing from Nuns

A Thomas Sowell piece from last year which puts into perspective the machinations of the Environmentally Correct in the Bay Area.

The Left obviously has no shame stealing from nuns.

Money Quote:

[Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District (MROSD)] officials feared negative impacts on the environment from convent development.

We all know those nuns were going to build those ugly Christian buildings, like, oh, Notre Dame, St. Peter's and even those Russian Orthodox monstrosities (I find the Trinity Cathedral especially appalling).

We all prefer government buildings (Greg, a real cheap shot -- Ed.).

Anyone who knows anything about Bay Area real estate valuations knows that $300,000 for 165 acres (yes, that's ~$1900 per acre) in the beautiful and upscale Woodside area is larceny.

The very definition of shameless, greedy plunder.

Welcome Home (Again)

We are spitting on our Vietnam Veterans all over and over and over again.

(Hat Tip InstaPundit.)

Shameless McCain?

McCain still has time to show he really supports President Bush for re-election.

If Bush can be asked to disavow those not related to his re-election effort, surely the senior Senator from Arizona can be asked to ask the junior Senator from Massachusetts to stop attacking veterans and former POWs.

Kerry's legal eagles allege "'. . . there is overwhelming evidence that SBVT is coordinating its expenditures on advertising and other activities designed to influence the presidential election with the Bush-Cheney campaign.'"

However, CNN states categorically that "The group has no direct connection to the Bush campaign, and group members said they have acted independently of the president's re-election effort."

All the while we have this precious understatement:

"Republican Sen. John McCain of Arizona said Friday that President Bush 'has been the recipient of 527 ads which are terrible, and in my view very, very inappropriate.' McCain charged that all 527 ads are illegal. Previously he has asked both Kerry and Bush to condemn the critical ads."

Campaign Finance Reform?

Yeah Right. . . .

The Other Corner

Also sending stuff "back to the Midwest" so to speak. . . .

Swift Boats on the Move!

The second ad by the indefatigable Swift Boat Veterans for Truth packs a punch.

Money Quote (Hat tip The Corner on NRO):

"It's not something that can be easily or successfully discredited,'' said one party strategist, who requested anonymity because he did not want to be seen as undermining Mr. Kerry's campaign. "It's guys talking about how they felt and you can't discredit someone's description of his own feelings.''

Shameless Kerry

Does Kerry really want to be in the position of bashing veterans again in '04 as he did in '71?

In '71 American troops were raping, murdering and plundering the Vietnamese.

Now, in '04, these same veterans are rightfully questioning Kerry's dubious record.

In a perfectly unbiased world, wouldn't Kerry be run out of town on a rail for his continued slander of those who served in Vietnam?

Release your records, JFK, release your records.

Money Quote:

A Freedom of Information Act request by The [Washington] Post for Kerry's records produced six pages of information. A spokesman for the Navy Personnel Command, Mike McClellan, said he was not authorized to release the full file, which consists of at least a hundred pages.

Shameless Matthews

Great journal entry by Michelle Malkin on her Hardball appearance.

This is a difficult read for folks who have faith in our "mainstream" media.

Or, more importantly, those who rate character as an important trait.

Money Quote:

As the show broke for commercials, Matthews scrambled for his producers to see if what he said was true.

Update:
Here is the soft side of Matthews. Clearly doing Kerry/Edwards heavy lifting this election cycle. This naked bias makes the Wizard of Oz look like an honest Old Man.

What is It?

About our media?

The blogosphere is clearly the gnat in the jackass' eye.

Where will this end?

A more informed Republic?

I think we see evidence of this already. The Swiftboat Veteran flap is clearly a loss for "mainstream" media.

Will it be devastating? Time will tell, but I think it is the hole in the dike that can't be plugged.
